    food for thought

I voted on Sunday, forgot to mention that in previous posts. It feels like such an accomplishment and I feel that it's such a great privilege to have the opportunity to have the freedom of picking in what 'you believe'. The 2004 elections were my first elections able to vote (because of age) and when I look back four years ago I would never think I would be as involved and intrigued by politics as I am in 2008. All preferences aside it's great to see so many people as concerned about who our next president will be as they are. Granted, it doesn't help that our government is in shambles just like our economy, but it only makes this election more important.

This year I changed my major and am starting school again in January. I was attending The Art Institute in downtown and figured since one of my passions has always been fashion that I should pursue that into my career. After a year of attending the school I realized that the Fashion Industry is NOT for me. It's one thing being a fashion enthusiast and loving everything from designer labels to the craftsmanship of clothing to then studying everything about the business and realizing you don't want to be a part of the world. Every industry/field are going to be tough and nothing will ever be handed to you on a platter, but seeing the inside scoop on Fashion made me actually start to hate it. Being in my composition classes I realized that all my writing classes were the only in which I actually 1. loved to attend 2. was intrigued about learning (from different styles of writing to proper grammar etc)and 3. this is what I should be doing. Our lives our dedicated to our work and the way I see it, why would I want to be in a job with no relevancy to my passion let alone go to school for something I hated? In this point of my life I'm just more concerned about finishing school and starting a job/internship/whatever can help me pursue my career. I may not end up being like 'Anna Quindlen' (famous journalist which also won the Pulitzer Prize in 92 ) but I want to spend the rest of my life doing something with dignity and passion.

On a lighter note, yesterday someone really made my day, actually made a big part of me really happy. I cannot even begin to start on how thankful I am for such an amazing gesture that was. I'm ecstatic to be going to see Coldplay in Orlando next week. To top it off with such a great group of people which share the same type of passion for music as I do. I made a list a few years back of my 'must See's in concert before I die' and this was the list (still hasn't changed except for maybe adding on a few) This is in no particular order. And of course this is not mentioning who I'd love to see if they were alive.
    1. Madonna
    2. Michael Jackson
    3. Coldplay
    4. Oasis
    5. Pearl Jam
    6. Jack Johnson
    7. Bjork
    8. Daft Punk
    9. Smashing Pumpkins
    10. Red Hot Chili Peppers
    11. Radiohead
